Sewing machines have been produced worldwide for more than 2 centuries. Lets say you are a little obsessed, If you are a collector you can go on-line and search through the antique site where you will be able to pick up one of these old treadle sewing machines. And for those of you that own one, make sure you keep the machine in running order as one day your machine could be sold for a high sum of money.
If one has never used a machine of this nature it does takes some practice as you have to master the foot pedal action but if you look on the bright side you are exercising at the same time as you are sewing.
You also need to think about how often the machine is going to be used. Here’s another little tip for you,Firstly lift the pressure lever which lifts the pressure foot and place your fabric onto the plate under the needle and then lower the pressure foot. Now you use your right hand to turn the balance wheel towards you and at the same time you must begin to moving your feet on the peddle below with a backward and forward action and make sure you alternate the pressure of the heel and toe with both feet which will give you a smooth and continuous movement.
