Can You Manage Your Anger?
Do you get angry from time to time? No matter, we all get angry from time to time, it’s a normal human response to some stressful and difficult situations. But when that gets out of control that’s another matter.
Although anger is a normal human emotion it can get out of control. It can become overpowering and if this happens to you then it can affect many different areas of your life in many different ways.
It can lead to all sorts of unusual behavior. There are so many ways that someone suffering from uncontrolled anger can manifest that. Some are obvious like shouting, but some are not so obvious. For example it can lead to behavior like short temperedness, sullenness, withdrawal into oneself, chronic grumpiness and overt aggression when dealing with other people.
And there’s anger that creates outward violence towards others including your family, even your children. When this happens you have to get real and tackle the problem or you’re in trouble.
And when this occurs there can be serious impacts on your life, like your relationships breaking down, becoming lonely and resentful, withdrawal and even more serious implications.
And it’s not only the life of the anger sufferer that can be at risk, but the overall health as well. There is evidence to suggest that excessive anger can, over time, lead to all sorts of health problems including depression, digestive problems, heart problems, headaches, anxiety and some other related psychological problems, high blood pressure, stroke, skin problems, insomnia and more. Scary isn’t it?
And of course an episode is unpredictable, and there is nothing you can do about the event that triggers it. Everyone suffers the usual life setbacks and frustrations. There’s nothing you can do to avoid them, they will happen to you. For some people they feel frustrated and angry, but over time that subsides and they carry on with life.
But although you can’t stop stressful events happening in your life you can affect how you react to them.
And although your reaction to any event is under your control that doesn’t really mean that just knowing that will be sufficient to overcome the problem. But it does help just to understand that you can control how you react.
There are excellent techniques for anger management that are available to everyone if they take time to learn them. Of course like everything some techniques work for some, and others for others. Some people may need professional counseling and others may not.
But there are answers to spiraling down into a life of rage and upset and broken relationships. It needs you to make the decision to take control of your life and do whatever it takes to learn the techniques. Once you’ve done that you ought to get down to work and start learning some solid and effective anger management techniques.
