Cujo: Completely terrifying adaptation of Stephen King thriller in regards to a female and her child terrorized by a rabid St. Bernard. After Life: This is a beautifully informed story of case workers at a train station between the heavens who help the recently departed pick a lone minute from their pasts to live inside forever. This is a calm, poetic assessment of life, death, and memory, filled with soft humor and blessedly free of some feel-excellent bromides. Cast includes Aarata, Erika Oda, Susuma Terajirna, Taketoshi Naito, Kyoko Kagawa, Kei Tani, Takashi Naito, and Yusuke lseya. (118 minutes,’98)
There’s Something About Mary: Ted has had a crush on Mary since high school. A good friend convinces Ted to search Mary down. So Ted hires a private detective to locate Mary. This sets the stage for a fun comedy romance.
For Queen and Country: This is a striking modern day thriller of Life in England. Washington is well cast as a prior paratrooper who battles for existence in an environment of racism, poverty, and corruption, and then loses his British citizenship due to a legal technicality. Cast includes Denzel Washington, Dorian Healey, Amanda Redman, Ocean Chapman, and Bruce Payne. (105 minutes,’89)
